Grief and Bereavement

It is natural to feel a deep sense of loss and sadness when someone close to us dies. It is a process that we naturally go through. It takes time for us to come to terms with what has happened, to perhaps learn to manage our lives differently.

We may be in denial that it happened. We may have recurring dreams or flashbacks especially if we were injured ourselves or witness the injury or death of other people. We may believe we hear or see the person who died. The shock can make us feel numb and disassociated from our world.

We may find ourselves swinging between angry outbursts and emotional explosions of distress. At the same, feeling ashamed, perhaps, that we feel so helpless and powerless and, so needy of others.

The grieving process can stir up memories of other loss we experienced and bring it all back as if it happened yesterday. Sometimes we feel our loss so deeply, we feel physical and mental pain, which is very real and overwhelming. At times, we may feel frightened to be alone.

All death is traumatic, but it can be more so if it unexpected, sudden, untimely or, if it happens in horrific or frightening circumstances.

If we have lost a close relative to Alzheimer’s, we may feel that we lost a vital connection with them long before they died and perhaps you feel guilty for feeling a genuine relief for yourself, when they died.

Using Advanced Hypnotherapy, I can help you to begin to ease the pain of your loss and give you the opportunity to resolve any lingering emotional problems. You may have some unresolved issues with your loved one. You might feel guilty about things you did or didn’t say, about things you did or didn’t do, or even for having survived. These issues can interrupt the natural process of grieving, which are perhaps stopping you from grieving or even prolonging your grief.

My help in the process is not about forgetting but more about healing the pain. As we work together to heal whatever thoughts and feelings are distressing you, you will be able to sort these mixed feelings and bring some order into your chaotic world. This process has, many times, brought a sense of release and relief to others and helped to re-gain a sense of perspective.

If you would like to arrange a confidential appointment with me, to talk through how I can help you through this difficult time, just get in touch.
